Vote against government funding of abortion and vote to defund Planned Parenthood.
Rep. Thomas Massie · U.S. Representative for Kentucky's 4th District
The original promise
“I will vote against government funding of abortion services and will vote to defund Planned Parenthood.”

Why this status
Massie cosponsors H.R. 7, which would bar federal funding for abortion, and sponsors a bill barring federal funds for abortions abroad. But he voted No both times the House passed the 2025 budget law (H.R. 1), which blocked Medicaid payments to Planned Parenthood for one year. He said he opposed that law because it would significantly increase federal deficits, not because of the Planned Parenthood provision.
