Support universal background checks and an assault weapons ban.

Rep. Laura Gillen · U.S. Representative for New York's 4th District

The original promise

“I will support universal background checks to ensure guns aren’t in the hands of dangerous individuals and an assault weapons ban to help prevent the next Buffalo or Parkland shooting.”

Why this status

Gillen is a cosponsor of H.R. 18, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2025, which would require background checks on most gun sales. We did not find her among the cosponsors of the assault weapons ban introduced in this Congress (H.R. 3115). Neither bill has passed.
